The FDA brings a nuke to a tickle fight - and ruins everyone's childhood - by recommending a blanket ban on eating ‪‎cookie‬ dough

Since December, forty-two people in 21 states have got sick after eating uncooked batter made from an E.coli-contaminated batch of flour. No-one has died. And yet the FDA’s response is to tell everyone—all 319 million Americans—not to eat any uncooked flour. By comparison, the Chipotle E. coli outbreaks affected 60 people in 14 states, and the FDA didn’t respond by telling people not to eat at Chipotle. So, does this disparity in response reflect the political hazards of a government agency bashing a particular company? Clearly, it's not politically hazardous for a government agency to bash cookie dough.
